DeltaVision is a full-service film production company based in Salzburg, Austria that produce high-quality sound and motion picture content. In their in-house 5.1 surround mixing studio, they work on everything from dialogue editing, voiceovers, and music recording to the final mix of a movie. DeltaVision also offers video post-production services in the areas of animation, editing and color grading, as well as camera and sound department services on movie sets, video content services for companies, live-camera operation and broadcasting as well as product photography and cinematography.
As a full-service film production and post-production facility, DeltaVision constantly generates vast amounts of data every day. It used to take extensive periods of time to upload data from cameras to their storage solutions – and even longer to edit and create high resolution media. To meet these challenges, DeltaVision required a centralized storage solution that would provide huge storage potential, high data transfer speeds, and also be accessible by multiple workstations.
DeltaVision approached QNAP and chose the TVS-1282T3 (a high-performance Thunderbolt™ 3 NAS) and the QSW-1208-8C 10GbE switch. By pairing their TVS-1282T3 with the QSW-1208-8C, DeltaVision would immediately benefit from accelerated media editing speeds. With four Thunderbolt™ 3 ports and two 10GBase-T network ports, users can directly edit high-resolution media files (even 8K videos) stored on the TVS-1282T3 without needing to transfer the files to their workstation. Featuring four SSD slots, TVS-1282T enables cache acceleration which produces the best performance for editing high resolution data. The centralized storage provided by the TVS-1282T3 can also be accessed by multiple Windows and Mac workstations, allowing for greatly streamlined multi-user workflow processes.
By pairing a high-performance QNAP NAS and QNAP switch, DeltaVision immediately benefitted from high-performance centralized storage that can be securely accessed by workers and clients. Setting up and maintaining the QNAP NAS was also easy and user-friendly due to QTS – the QNAP NAS operating system – which guides users through every step of the setup process and simplifies file management. With Qsync, a cross device file sync utility, DeltaVision can easily sync their most-recent files between computers and remote users' workstations. The Qfile companion mobile app also allows users to remotely access and share content with clients at any time while always being in sync with the NAS.
